I love World Market

I really do and nobody paid me to say that. Hello I do not even sponsors! Here is 5 quick reasons why:

Love the decorate bath stuff. Because ONE DAY we will truly remodel our master bathroom.

Two: Hello fun shower curtains!

Three: Great prices. Three lights for $60!

Four: The have every thing int he world! Furniture, food, decor, international items, gifts, jewelry etc. Like this weird giraffe guy which if he was false knocker.

Five: They have some of the funniest funky decor.
Plus when I am not feeling super lazy and actually go through the emails they send they usually have great coupons! And rewards for being signing up to be a ‘explorer’ which is free.
So was this post enough to make you want to jump on the bandwagon? I think I feel in love with the store all over again. Sigh!

Glesav or Smurf Blue

So I did something a little out of the strange. I know you are thinking what you? Never! I painted our hall closets. Lucky for me James was on board. It was probably because I have finally broken his spirit and turn him into a yes man, irregardless he was super romantic about it and went to the Home Depot to pick up for me! We even bought the Martha Stewart brand when usually we find a color we like and switch it to Behr Ultra. My vote on Martha; not bad. I was painting over white so it was easy enough to cover.

After holding up each sample to our walls in every room and under natural light and overhead light we finally decided on Martha Stewart’s “Gleasv”
Loved it! Bought it and broke out the brush and began. Did I mention that James was away on while I did this? Yup I take on projects while he is on business trips. He is the definition of a perfectionist and he makes me nervous doing DIY so I do things when he is not around.

A before example:

Ugly old antique white.

After:

I even did the coat closet.

And once it was done I realized it kinda looked the color of smurfs but I love it anyway. So that people is how I spend my evenings when I am alone. Did you see my bathroom makeover? I did that while Jamie was on a business trip too.

So does this inspire any of y’all to break hop in the closet and give it a makeover? Or am I the only werido who thinks about painting a closet?

P.S. Thanks to Lindsay for helping me paint the shelves! =)

Wither Away

So my beautiful bouquet last for over a week but slowly the roses began to wither away. Womp Womp. So I decided to make lots of mini bouquets out of the living lilies.

In some old vases James & I spray painted white awhile ago. . .

The fishbowl that usually holds corks and is kept in our living area. This fishbowl is from our wedding center pieces so it is extra special to me. The flowers & the bowl remind me how much my ‘boo’ loves me. =) So ladies are any of your hoarding on to things from your wedding? Or maybe it is your husband, does he have your garter hanging off his rearview mirror?

It’s Not You It’s Me

James & I spent part of our luxurious three-day weekend last week at IKEA. I LOVE ME SOME IKEA however this time was a bit sad. 1. It was under going remodeling so a lot of things were scaled down. 2. We really did not need anything.
This November we will have been living in our first home for three years. We have accomplished a lot in the past three years and bought a lot of things for to make our home cozy. Yet on this trip we realized we don’t need anything from IKEA anymore. Sad.
Yes there are a mile long list of things we want to do around our house but those are things we are going to have to buy at those DIY stores.
Well before this gets any more sappy let me show the goods. What we did buy:

From top left to right.
Glass vase, collider, light bulbs, screen for fry pan, dish towel, place mats, cooking utensils, straws, wine rack, dish towel, dust pan, light, measuring cup, measuring teaspoons, and a light kit.
Things that were for us: vase, light bulbs, light kit and light. The rest we picked up for our friends who just bought their first new place.

We also did pick the new IKEA catalog and of course some icecream to end the bittersweet trip. So how about yall, what is your relationship with IKEA?

Bathroom Makeover: On The Cheap Side

I hope everyone had a Happy Labor Day! Perhaps even accomplished a few projects? We did not. We did make a trip to IKEA, later on that this week. However I did finally get around to writing this post about an old project I accomplished with a tiny weeny bit of help from James; Our Master Bathroom. Here is a shot of before:

I know not exciting at all! Here are some snapshots of the process:

So I started this project when James was on a business trip. I was able to accomplish a bit. I painted the walls and cabinet myself. The mirror and bird art I had James spray paint once he was home and saw the surprise makeover. James is a pro spray painter. I however lay it on too thick, cause drips and it is just a hot mess when I am done with it. Here is the after:

So how was it cheap you ask? Well I used items we had lying around, like paint. The paint on the cabinets is the same paint we used on our front door makeover (http://form2form.wordpress.com/2010/06/05/come-knock-on-my-door/ ) and the paint on the walls is the same paint we used in our living room. The mirrors we purchased at target for $10 each awhile ago (http://form2form.wordpress.com/2010/04/24/guest-bathroom/ ).The knobs came from the cabinet company James works for, the bird art was a present from my brother last year and the curtian was the existing one. As well as the tray, I snatched that from our guest room (http://form2form.wordpress.com/2010/06/05/diy%c2%a0tray/). The counter is so long and had a big empty space so it def. needed something. So there you have it, a zero dollar makeover. Trust me it will not stay like this just until we can afford to give it a true makeover like we did in our guest bathroom(http://form2form.wordpress.com/2010/04/24/guest-bathroom/). Has anyone else recently completed a makeover? Major or small, free or expensive irregardless do tell!

Pillow Talk

We have only two pillows on our couch. James tends to hog them and I asked if we could buy some more but he said no! I understand we have ten decorative pillows throughout our entire house so I can easily just grap one of those. So I kept quiet until we were window shopping and I saw a pillow with a GIANT ‘B’ on it. Being the sweet man he is, he bought it for me!

It is perfect! I think it mixes well with all the other textures and colors in our home. The best part it, it was originally $20 at Stein Mart but due to a sale we were able to take that beauty home at only $10. I love a deal almost as much as I love monogram items.
So tell me, anyone else out there a monogram fanatic? What is your favorite monogram item you own? Or perhaps there is one you may have on your wishlist. . .

A Girl’s Best Friend

Who needs diamonds when you have a husband who does things like this:

I came home earlier this week to these beauties. He is oh-so-romantic still! I think the flowers make the best centerpiece ever! Can you tell I am still on a flower power high?

I love lillies and roses are always classy but it was these little guys that caught my attention. They are so peculiar that I can’t help but adore them. Not only did the flowers but a smile on my face but I felt myself falling in love with my husband all over again. =) Happy days people!
